About the Programme
This 27-month programme run by Lufthansa Technik Shannon Aviation Training Academy is completed at Shannon Airport in County Clare. It is held in conjunction with the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board. Successful candidates undergo two years of training comprised of both theoretical and practical tuition. Upon completion of all exams and practical on the job experience, trainees can apply for their EASA CAT A Aircraft Maintenance License with the Irish Aviation Authority.
- Leaving Certificate (Minimum of H5 or O4 in Maths)
- Fluent in English both written and spoken
- Eligible to live and work in the EU
- Able to undergo a medical and security check
Structure/Content of the Programme
The programme will consist of on-the-job and off-the-job phases structured over 27 months. These are held in conjunction with Lufthansa Technik Shannon and the Limerick and Clare Education and Training Board. The theory training is divided into 12 modules held over 43 weeks. These modules include a mix of theoretical and practical training and examinations. Examples of these modules include maths, physics, maintenance practices, aerodynamics, electrics. Examinations are held individually at the end of each module and have a strict pass rate of 75%. Once all examination and practical experience requirements have been met, candidates can apply for their aircraft maintenance license from the authorities.
Benefits of the Programme
Upon successful completion of the programme, the candidates will be awarded;
- EASA Part66 CAT A Aircraft Maintenance License
With further examinations and experience, candidates can further their knowledge and upgrade to a CAT B1 or B2 License.
The EASA licenses are recognised in all member states throughout the EU. Not does the license qualifiy one as an aircraft engineer, but they also open many doors in the aviation industry, which helps significantly for future career progression if desired.
